For all of you who still check my blog I appoligize for the extended Hiatus. It has been a pretty crazy few months since my last post.
So a few weeks following my last post I began a tour of small town USA with PwC auditing a packaging company. I was traveling for about a month straight visiting Shelbyville, TN, Washington NJ, and Russelville AK(for two weeks!). Needless to say it was a rather hectic time. It was also fun and I enjoyed all of the places for all of their little nuances. I even got to go horseback riding in Arkansas! After that I had a few more weeks left of work in Chicago. I received an offer to come on full time with PwC in Chicago after I graduate which is thoroughly exciting and I intend on accepting.
I then spent a week in Florida for some much needed R&R after my internship. I have finally made it back to normal life(college). I started a new quarter three weeks ago. I am taking a healthy splattering of economics courses which should provide me with enough free time to focus on the important stuff....bike and build! I am excited for my housing economics course though. It fits in perfectly with bike and build, what with it being for affordable housing. I have decided to write my term paper on the topic of affordable housing and some of the programs in place and how they affect supply. Affordable housing is a cause which I didn't know that much about before deciding to participate in Bike and Build, so I look forward to learning more about it as I research for my paper.

I have finally ordered my bike!!!!(Shown above- Its the Giant Defy Advanced 3...full carbon fiber! I'm pretty pumped) and have been slowly acquiring equipment for the trip. Any donations of useful equipment or suggestions are welcome. I have also really started to train in ernest. While I was in Chicago I could do some training but not really any adequate amount. There are lots of good places to ride around Columbus, so I have been taking full advantage. I also got to go on a ride back in Cincinnati when I was home for Easter. I would say the training is going really well and I am happy with how I'm getting back into the swing of riding. I have ridden a little over 200 miles since I have gotten back to Columbus and the next few days look like clear sunny days so I am pretty excited about that. I am planning a ride from Columbus to Cincy on May 15th if anyone is interested in joining me. It should be about 110 miles, so it will be a test but a good one and from all my research not too bad, as it has a lot of riding on bike trails and not too much climbing.
Lastly and most importantly I want to thank all of you who have helped me thus far. I have a little over $3,000 raised, only $1,000 away from my mark of $4,000. All of you who have helped thus far I appreciate it more than you know!
I will leave you with this, a quote from W.H. Murray a Scottish Mountaineer.
"Until one is committed, there is hesitancy, the chance to draw back, always ineffectiveness. Concerning all acts of initiative (and creation), there is one elementary truth the ignorance of which kills countless ideas and splendid plans: that the moment one definitely commits oneself, then providence moves too."
Commit yourself to something, anything, you won't regret it.
